Londoners are using more and more water each year. There are more washing machines and dishwashers, more gardens to water and our crowded streets mean there are more cars to wash. We are modernising and enlarging our five major water treatment works on the outskirts of London so they can treat more water. Our problem was how to get the additional water to our customers who live in the city and its suburbs.
