The water found in rivers and streams in
the Thames Water area is clean enough to support a variety of wildlife.
Although it is clean, it is not safe to drink and therefore needs
to be treated in a water treatment works to remove any substances
that may be harmful. The journey from the source to the tap is a
complex one involving a variety of processes and transport in many
kilometres of pipeline.
